Logo Development:
In the Shop Publication
In the Shop is an industry publication created to highlight the voices of industry experts. They request contributions from customers and non-customers alike, sharing their experiences, tips, and industry knowledge with the subscribers. My goal was to develop a unique logo that showcased the commitment to highlighting the people’s voice.
Bringing a Logo to Life
With a large workload and tight deadlines, it can be easy to choose a font and colors and call it a logo. With this project that was even the suggestion of the team, but I felt that in order for our publication to be successful we needed to take a unique approach and capture the “written by people in your industry” aspect of the project.
The Solution
The solution was fun and simple: ask my dad for help. Once a machinist himself, he wrote in a unique way that I had also seen on many sticky notes and scraps of paper around our customers shops. I asked him to give me a few samples of his writing to choose from, vectorized them in Illustrator and, with the addition of the subtitle, we now had a logo that was written by the people of manucturing, just like the articles we would be promoting.
